J. J. Smith makes his living by searching out bizarre and extreme events for THE BOOK OF RECORDS, but the well is running dry, and if he is to keep his job he must come up with some new record-breaking oddities. When he hears that someone in Nebraska is eating an airplane, a little bit every day, he investigates, and in a tiny Nebraska town he finds Wally Chubb, who is consuming the 747 to prove his love for his girlfriend, Willa. Then J. J. falls for Willa, too. This wacky novel about romance and obsession is a comical delight.
