Rumis is perhaps the only example in the history of literature where one who is entirely devoted to prose suddenly bursts forth into poetry in his middle age, thus, becoming the greatest mystical poet of all times. In 1261 Rumi began the monumental work of writing the Mathnavi. Towards the end of the book, the author deals with Rumis thought and provides translations of those portions of the Mathnavi which had hitherto not been available in English.
