The Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Ugly Truth is a favorite book in my house with my 10 year old. This is a book about Greg and his focus to replace his best friend Rowley. Greg feels as though he is getting older even though he has not hit full blown puberty quite yet. There is a lot of pimples, family gatherings, homework, headgear and of course girls. This is a very illustrated book that shows all of the sides to an everyday school age boy.

An extension of this book would be to talk about a diary and how you use one and maybe even make one in class to start for them. Another idea would be to discuss the things that Greg goes though in school and see what you could do differently to make the situations better.
