Stella Chaplin is a new writer and a very funny one. I laughed out loud on practically every page. I suppose it falls into the category of chick-lit - but it's much better written than other books of this kind I've read and doesn't follow the usual (rather insulting) formula of a single girl looking for Mr Right to sort her life out. Lindy, the heroine of Lip Kisses has already found her Mr Right and is happily married to him. But she's about to find out that life isn't that simple.
Lindy's life changes when her old school friend, Natalie suddenly comes back to London with her gorgeous architect fiance in tow. The girls haven't spoken in years - they fell out over a boy, of course - and to make matters worse, Natalie's now a big TV star in the States. Any woman who's ever lived in the shadow of a prettier best friend will know exactly how Lindy feels. And whether you're in a relationship or single you'll agonise with Lindy over what to do when she realises that she fancies someone other than the nice bloke she married. This is a very witty and insightful book about love, sex, relationships, marriage, friendship and it's a real page-turner. I loved it and found myself falling in love with the characters too. If you liked Bridget Jones Diary or you're a fan of Friends then you'll love Lip Kisses too. It's the perfect book to take on holiday or curl up in bed with.
