During her six years of marriage, Sehra Waheed was verbally abused, kicked, punched, stabbed and raped. She naively entered into marriage as an innocent Pakistani woman, happily looking forward to a fulfilling life with the man she loved. However, soon after her marriage, her husband became her tormenter and finally betrayed her. This is the story of a young womans struggle to escape from a marriage that became a living hell. Despite objections from her family, she challenged the ancient customs under which women are expected to silently submit and endure terrible pain and abuse. In a society that places honor and respect above the needs of an individual, to be considered a disloyal wife or to contemplate divorce is a fate worse than death. Despite having the cards stacked against her, she triumphed. This is a tale that many women going through the same experience will draw courage and strength from.

About the Author
Sehra Waheed was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. She received her early education at St. Joseph Convent High School in Karachi and The Bayard Rustin High School for the Humanities, New York. Sehra attended the Fashion Institute of Technology College in New York where she studied Interior Design. She is a daughter of a commercial airline pilot and a homemaker. Sehra has two sisters who are also involved in Interiors and Design. Both married with children and currently reside in New York and Texas. Silent Submission is the authors first book.
