Polly Benge was an out-of-work ballet dancer in England when she was inveigled by her friend Tim to join him in his attempt to see India by bicycle. This an account of that journey from Kathmandu to Guwahati, with the trying and funny moments that a long tour by bicycle over unfamiliar terrain is likely to bring about. But equally important to the story is the author's bittersweet realization that a successful conclusion to the journey will lead her to start another, no less daunting, at the other end of the world, far away from family and friends.
