This book recounts the journey that took the author from the midst of an Australian bushland pdise to the rapture of devotion at the shrines of the great Sufi saints in Pakistan and India. It tells of her spiritual connection to Pakistans legendary qawwals, the Sabri Brothers and her direct experience of being engulfed by their powerful and ecstatic music. The author further elaborates upon the Sufi spiritual journey, highlighting the abysses and peaks which are encountered on the way.
About the Author / Editor
Trained as an art teacher and for several years ran own art restoration business in Sydney. Early travels to Japan, Russia, England, France, Tahiti, Easter Island, Chile and Brazil. Spiritual quest began in the early 80s when undertaking a 5000 km bicycle journey from Paris, through France, Corsica and Sardinia to Tunisia in North Africa. Encountered Islam. In 1984 embraced Islam in the Algerian Sahara Desert and subsequently entered the Sufi Path. Initiated into Sufi tariqa. Wrote four books, all published, between 1991 and 1995. Returned to university to undertake Master of Arts. Awarded Postgraduate degree with thesis on Sufism. Now working, in Pakistan and abroad, with Mehmood Sabri. A Spiritual Traveller connected to the Chishti Silsila.
